Carrie Brothers, PA-C

Certified Physician Assistant

Carrie practices at Humboldt Open Door Clinic.

Carrie earned her Masters in Health Services, Physician Assistant Studies at the University of California, Davis. Her Masters Project was “Equipping Primary Care Providers to Serve Aging Transgender People”. She also has a Masters of Education, Special Education.

Carrie is currently doing video care for Open Door and will be relocating to our area from Santa Barbara in the Summer of 2022. She grew up in Biggs, CA, in the northern Sacramento Valley.

Carrie was attracted to Open Door by our mission and vision to provide patient-centered care to all, regardless of financial or social situation. She did a clinical rotation at NCC while in her PA program and was hoping to return one day as a permanent provider.

Carrie grew up visiting the North Coast annually during her family’s camping trips and grew to love this area. In moving up here she is also looking forward to being closer to extended family in the Sacramento Valley.

Previously Carrie provided primary care in a small private practice, including transgender care. She spent the last year as a volunteer serving the indigenous communities of the remote Copper Canyon area of northern Mexico, establishing a new mobile health program there.
In her free time Carrie enjoys gardening, hiking, biking, music, reading, and supporting global health equity.
